The handwashing flats challange what did we learn.

Even that I was out on like day 2 I had been handwashing for like 3 weeks all ready. I think the ones that quite did so for verious reasons. I know that if I had no option I would be handwashing no question about it. But I like my prefolds much better just because they keep her drier than a flat. I have a panda washer I use for diapers which washes you have to maualy drain and fill and wring out the diapers. It washes really well. I know if something happen like the washer broke I could hand wash and now how to handwash that is what I would take away from this and that it does not have to be a all or nothing. You could hand wash a few loads a week to save money if you go to a laundary mat. But weare all tempted with modern conviences of today. I got a panda wash one to save water as I have a no he top loader uses alot of water. My panda washer uses less and I can soak in it my washer has no soak. So is handwashing do able if you had to yes. Is it something I want to do no.

I failed at the hand washing flat cloth diaper challange hosted by Dirty Diaper Laundry. I am sure the fact that I had been washing all her diapers by hand for about a month. I use alot of flats but throw a pocket on here and their. I used a pamper as well I normaly use them at night and yesterday all the kids had a dentist apt. I do not use my regular washer for cloth because people around my house  love fabric softener. I would rather not have to clean the machine. When I handwashed I had the 5 gallon bucket on the bathroom counter. I would pre wash a poop first to get most of it out then add it to the pail. Two rinses was the first thing. I would soak the diapers in hot water adgiate, soak, adgiate, soak. Three rinses were done the same way. I would take covers and wipes out rinse and hang. since they rinse better. Then I would add a tad of method fabric softner to help break up the soap bubbles and it smells so good.  And when the Fed X truck showed up at my door with my panda washer it was all over with you know I had to try it.  I had ordered it because one my washer has no soak on it that is a pain and I did not really use it for cloth too much anywhy. So I took the convent wayout as handwashing can be a pain not that it's hard more time consumming.

How did I prepare for the flats challange and supplies.

 I'm participating in the Flats handwashing challange  hosted by Dirty diaper Laundary.
I all ready had my covers
 2 flips,
 4econobums,
 1 best bottom
3 bumkins.
12 receving blankets
. I have about 1 dozen small flats.
 2 dozen flour sack towels.
 I had a 5 gallon bucket and a plunger. So the only thing I bought was 8 reciving blankets a few weeks ago. everything else I all ready had. I just store dirty diapers in a plactic  wash tub I  then wash in bucket on bathroom counter to save my back.

Why did I decide to take the Flats and Handwashing Challenge?

  This week I have am participating in the third anual flats challange hosted by Dirty diaper Laundary.I am taking it to prove that I can do it and to show others that its posable to do it. I think the main thing is to show people that have noting to start with that you do not have to go out and buy flast if you can not afford it. You most likely have things all ready that can be used as flats if you look around your home. That you can get things cheap that you can use for flats that you can find where you live . The closest cloth diaper store is at least a hour a way. We are also a one car family right now no running to get this and that. You can use receving blankets, flour sack towels, hand towels, t shirts and in a pich you can go cover less. I guess you could get the gerber plastic pants. If you can crochet or knit you can make your own covers with free patterns of make you own and yep acrylic yarn will work as well if you change often. I do have covers most on line stores sell cheap ones  flips, econobums ect. You can also use pockets as covers too. I think people need information on how to start willth little or no money. I was  in the same boat as alot of people I wanted to cloth diaper but had no money other than for a pack of diapers. I do use pampers at night I figure I can afford one a day. And everyone has different challanges water type and detergant. I use plane old powered tide.

My son has adhd & odd in

No one can truly know what you go through as a parent of a child that has adhd unless they are a parent to one. Let me say that he just turned 13. He is not the same child he is at home than he is at school. He is behaved better at school than at home. He has learning disabilities as well but that being said he is doing well in school with his own I.E.P. He will test you  patience at every turn. He likes to do that its like a past time for him. He will be going to junior high next school year. 

I am not quite sure how to do this, so I am wining this. I will be doing dirty diaper laundary's handwashing challange this year. I did it last year. I have a 2 year old girl that is cloth diapered. Lucky I have every thing I need to do the challange. I hate using a snappi on flour sack towels. I fell they are thin on the hips so I pin them or pad fold. I  all ready handwash my cloth diapers for the last month. Hubby loves to use fabric softner he likes the smell. I hate it. I also am trying to use less wter. My questions is how many flats can you get away with?
